Increment (from Latin incretio - increment, increase) - a change in the appearance or internal structure of the body under the influence of external or internal factors.

Increment is the body’s ability to increase the volume, mass, number of cells or tissues in response to the action of any factor (for example, an irritant, a hormone, as well as under the influence of internal processes).

The concept of “incretion” was introduced in 1889 by the German biologist Hermann von Geldern.
