Indopharm: description of the drug and application features

Indopharm is one of the most widely used drugs in the group of anti-inflammatory drugs derived from indoleacetic acid. This drug is produced in Russia by the Tyumen Chemical-Pharmaceutical Plant and in Malta by Pharmamed, and has the international name Indomethacin.

Indopharm is widely used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, tendonitis, synovitis, acute gouty arthritis and other diseases accompanied by inflammatory processes. The drug is available in the form of tablets containing 25 mg of active substance.

Indopharm also has a number of synonyms, including Apo-Indomethacin, Vero-Indomitacin, Indobene, Indovis E.S., Indocollir, Indomet-Ratiopharm, Indomethacin (Movimed), Indomethacin 100 Berlin-Chemie, Indomethacin 50 Berlin-Chemie, Indomethacin Vramed, Indomethacin Sevtopolis, Indomethacin Sopharma, Indomet.

Despite its widespread use, Indopharm has a number of contraindications and side effects. In particular, the drug is not recommended for hypersensitivity, rhinitis, conjunctivitis or bronchospasm while taking NSAIDs, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, bleeding (especially intracranial or from the gastrointestinal tract), thrombocytopenia, hypocoagulation, suspected necrotizing enterocolitis, severe renal failure, congenital heart defects (tetralogy of Fallot, pulmonary atresia), proctitis (suppositories), pregnancy (teratogenicity may occur).

When using Indopharma, side effects may develop, such as nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, gastrointestinal bleeding, rectal bleeding, toxic hepatitis, constipation, arterial hypertension, heart rhythm disturbances, bone marrow hypoplasia , aplastic anemia, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, platelet dysfunction, fluid retention, hyperglycemia, hyponatremia, hypokalemia, hyperkalemia, hyponephrosis, nephrotic syndrome, urinary tract infections, hematuria, protein in the urine, increased creatinine in the blood, nephrolithiasis, interstitial nephritis, pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma, vasomotor rhinitis, skin reactions (including allergic), headaches, dizziness, insomnia, depression, anxiety, loss of vision, itching, photodermatitis, angioedema, anaphylactic shock and others.
