Intestinal obstruction Alimentary

Nutritional intestinal obstruction is a pathological condition in which the normal movement of intestinal contents through the lumen of the small or large intestine is disrupted.

Causes:

  1. Volvulus
  2. Adhesive disease
  3. Intestinal tumors
  4. Foreign bodies
  5. Inflammatory processes

Symptoms:

  1. Abdominal pain
  2. Bloating
  3. Nausea and vomiting
  4. Retention of stool and gas
  5. Fever

Diagnosis is based on analysis of the clinical picture, physical examination data, as well as instrumental and laboratory methods (ultrasound, X-ray, blood tests).

Treatment depends on the cause of the obstruction and may include:

  1. Conservative therapy (antispasmodics, laxatives, intestinal decompression)
  2. Surgical intervention (bowel resection, tumor removal, dissection of adhesions, etc.)

The prognosis depends on the timeliness of diagnosis and the adequacy of treatment. With rapid resolution of the obstruction, complete recovery is possible.
