Intestinoscopy

“Intestinoscopy” is a modern and most accurate examination of the intestines

**Intestinoscopy** is a set of intestinal examinations, which are based on examination of the mucous membrane of the small intestine using an optical instrument - a flexible endoscope. An endoscope is a small diameter tube consisting of several parts - a tube, a body and auxiliary elements for controlling the camera mechanism. The tube is passed through the oropharynx into the intestine through the alimentary canal. If necessary, the tube can be advanced deeper along the digestive canal using additional advancement methods (duodenoscopy, colectomocropy). The main advantage of inteninoscopy is the implementation of the most complete and reliable examination of the small and large intestine. Thanks to gastrointestinal diagnostic methods, it has become possible to identify a large number of serious diseases, malignant tumors, pathologies and illnesses that can cause the patient’s death. Intestinoscopy is the most accurate way to examine the intestines. For example, bowel cancer can be detected without the use of saline solutions. To do this, it is necessary to perform an intestinoscopy and, if changes or tumors are detected, a biopsy is performed. Patients are not informed about the method and the results obtained. This is why people may believe that the technique is harmless. Today, specialists mainly examine the following parts of the gastrointestinal tract: 1. duodenum; 2. jejunum; 3. ileum; 4. cecum; 5. terminal part of the ileum. A special **chamber under high pressure** and a small angle of inclination to the axis of the probe begins to enter the gastrointestinal tract cavity for a short time. At this time, an inert gas is sprayed and a special dye is introduced, the task of which is to keep the intestinal walls in a relaxed state throughout the entire examination session. This allows specialists to get rid of preliminary preparation and undergo the examination comfortably, regardless of health status and age limit. If the patient is experiencing diarrhea or constipation, the surgeon will be able to identify areas of intestinal obstruction on the monitor and detect any underlying causes of the problem.

Indications for intestinoscopy: * scarlet discharge from the gums; * the appearance of traces of blood in the stool; unexplained weight loss; pain syndrome of unknown location; loose stools or constipation; abdominal noise; pain in the stomach area, etc. **If appendicitis is suspected** examination is also mandatory! Enteroscopy **needs to be carried out for any symptoms** that “accompany” purulent inflammation of the appendix. Here is a list of the main ones: increased gas formation, pain when emptying the stomach, low-grade fever, a sharp decrease in

Study of the small intestine using a special optical endoscope device into the lumen of the small intestine - intestinoscopy. To do this, a study is carried out with a capsule or fiberscope. Endoscopic methods for examining the small intestine were first used in Russia (in 1957).
