Ivory what color is this foundation?

Avon cosmetics are distributed almost all over the world and are probably known to everyone. Attractive prices without store markups, no risk of stumbling upon a fake - this and much more attracts new consumers. And the company itself does not stand still: new products are being created that are tempting to try. One of them in 2015 was the “Calm Radiance” foundation. Avon received positive reviews about it. Many girls were already familiar with a similar product before. Imagine their surprise that this was the same cream, modified so much that now it has practically no flaws to be found. What is the secret to the success formula for the new foundation from Avon? Let's figure it out.

History of the company

Avon became known to the mass public back in 1886. It all started with the creation of small perfume bottles by David McConnell, which later became very popular among women. Success pushed the businessman to form his own perfume and cosmetics company. Already in 1897, the first Avon laboratory opened. The range of products offered is gradually expanding. The company begins to produce jewelry.

In 1985, Avon introduced a retinol-based cream for the first time. Then it also debuts with the release of products with AHA acids. Despite significant difficulties at the end of the 1980s, Avon still remains in the market and continues to successfully compete with other cosmetic chains. Today this is one of the most popular companies offering catalog cosmetics.

Avon Calming Effects: description

In 2015, the company released another concealer - the “Calm Radiance” foundation. Avon received quite good reviews about it. Many owners noted that the cream fully complies with the properties declared by the manufacturer. It must be said that the product was released in two versions: for sensitive and oily (combination) skin. Customers really liked this. After all, now they will be able to choose a new foundation for themselves as accurately as possible.

I was also pleased with the palette of colors in which the product is produced. Avon offers five shades of foundation for a natural-looking makeup look. This is more than enough for non-professional cosmetics. In addition, the colors are made with undertones, pink or yellow, which characterizes the manufacturer only from the best side.

Release form

The “Calm Radiance” foundation comes in very good packaging. Avon gets good reviews thanks to its convenient bottle, which is similar to professional products. This is a transparent glass container with a volume of 30 ml, equipped with a dispenser on top. Additionally, it is closed with a cap to avoid contamination of both the bottle itself and surrounding objects.

Lightly pressing the dispenser releases a small amount of foundation. It's very economical. The transparent bottle allows you to control the consumption of the product and think about purchasing a new one in time. Consumer reviews note the ease of use of the packaging: the cream does not dry out, is not consumed much and looks presentable in the case. The cardboard packaging is made in the standard Avon style: black background with white letters.

Foundation “Calm radiance”, “Avon”: photo, characteristics

Externally, Calming Effects products are practically the same depending on their intended purpose for a specific skin type. These are two transparent bottles filled with one of five tones of mattifying product. The difference is felt only upon direct application. The formula for sensitive and dry skin has a soft, caring texture. The components deeply moisturize and nourish the face, while providing a high-quality mattifying effect. The foundation contains extracts of chamomile, aloe vera and lavender, as well as vitamins E and A. The product not only hides imperfections, but also takes care of the condition of the epidermis, which is so important when it is dry and hypersensitive.

Oily and combination skin is no less capricious, which constantly presents “surprises” in the form of pimples, inflammation, and just an unpleasant oily sheen. The appearance of your face becomes less beautiful and healthy, but you want to look your best. Those with problematic, combination or oily skin will like the new product - the “Calm Radiance” foundation. Avon receives very good reviews, which talk about flawless matte skin for the whole day. Isn't this a dream?

Foundation shades

The point of foundation is to hide imperfections so that in sunlight the skin looks naturally beautiful and healthy. On the way to creating makeup, every woman, one way or another, faces certain difficulties in choosing a foundation. The fact is that an incorrectly selected tone will not only not emphasize beauty, but will also completely ruin the image. That is why self-respecting companies try to offer the buyer a large assortment of shades in order to use foundation as naturally and discreetly as possible.

Avon's "Calm Radiance" product for concealing skin imperfections was developed in five shades:

  1. soft beige (nude);
  2. ivory;
  3. light beige (cream);
  4. sand beige (almond);
  5. warm beige (warmest beige).

Each of them has a light texture that is easy to apply and blend. Despite the fact that the foundation is moderately liquid, it has average coverage. If the skin imperfections are minor, it can be easily applied in a very light, almost weightless layer.

Color "light" and "ivory"

Nude is the lightest shade offered in the Calm Radiance foundation line. According to customers, this is an ideal option for white translucent skin, the imperfections of which are much more noticeable than on darker skin. The shade does not turn yellow. The product covers the face with high quality, instantly mattifying it. Nude is available for both dry and combination skin.

Women highly appreciated the Avon Calm Glow foundation. “Delicate beige” received good reviews. The naturalness of the shade and the absence of oxidation of the cream on the face are noted. After some time, the color does not darken, but remains, as before, light.

The shade “ivory” is suitable for those with fair skin with pink undertones. The color after application looks very natural and natural. Coverage is enough for minor imperfections. Oily shine is successfully eliminated with the help of perfect matting, which the Avon “Calm Radiance” foundation has. “Ivory” received decent reviews: users are happy that they can purchase a product that finally does not yellow, but refreshes the complexion.

Light and sandy beige tone

A sandy beige (or cream) shade, warm with a yellow undertone, suitable for those with slightly dark skin. It will be a good option for summer use as well. Light skin tans and darkens a little. At the same time, the previous colors may look unnatural on her, and slightly darker shades will come in handy. If the skin is slightly tanned or has a color between light and dark, and also tends to have a yellowish tint, a cream tone will be ideal. The best choice would be the “Calm Radiance” foundation (Avon). “Light beige” received good reviews. Young ladies like its effectiveness.

Sand beige (almond) is suitable for medium skin tone with pink undertones. This is a very delicate and beautiful color. It will highlight the beauty of the face and give it freshness. If the winter version of the cream was the color “ivory”, feel free to choose the “almond” foundation “Calm Radiance” “Avon” for the summer. The “sand-beige” shade deserves positive reviews. Its delicate color and good coverage are appreciated by many women.

Tint for dark skin

The warm beige shade evokes thoughts of sunny summer and bronze tan. And for good reason. It is for skin that is dark from birth or well tanned that the Avon “Calm Radiance” foundation will come in handy. The “warm beige” received positive reviews. Those with a warm chocolate-colored epidermis can now easily achieve an effective matte finish that lasts all day. According to customers, the product is very suitable for use in both summer and winter. The texture does not spread or change color, which is very important for a perfect look.

The “Calm Radiance” foundation is a mattifying product that delights many women. Is it worth purchasing? The question is twofold. On the one hand, this is a perfectly matte (for some, even too matte) coating, on the other hand, it has not too high coverage. Nevertheless, the product is worthy of attention. It is worth the money that is spent on purchasing it. Not for everyone, but works very well for its price range.

Very often, girls face problems when choosing a foundation, since it must not only flawlessly mask any imperfections, but also even out the tone of the face, as well as suit the skin type. The beauty of all makeup as a whole will directly depend on how correctly the foundation is chosen.

Popular range

When making foundations, manufacturers often produce many different shades for each line of cosmetic product. Their number can sometimes reach fifteen to twenty or more.

The most popular shades, which are usually presented in all the most famous brands, are peach, sand beige, ivory, golden beige (“light tan”), juicy sunny, porcelain, porcelain color (without yellow), green with a yellow undertone, as well as without yellowness, sand, caramel and many others.

Note: Even if the foundation comes in a transparent container, there is no way to determine how it will look on your skin. You won’t be able to choose a shade of cream from a palette in a magazine. The selection of foundation can only be done by applying different shades of the product to your skin. This can be done in specialized cosmetic stores, in the windows of which there are samples of each cosmetic product on sale.

Remember: If you choose the wrong cream tone, you risk ruining your entire makeup. In this case, the skin of the face will look unnatural, and it may also be very different in color from the neck and other open areas of the body.

How to choose one that is not visible on the face?

It’s very easy to choose the ideal product – just carry out a simple test. You need to apply a little foundation to the cheekbones, wrist or chin. If possible, it is better to apply the product directly to the face. Be sure to wait five minutes after application.

If you guessed right with the tone, the cream will be invisible on the skin - as if it were completely transparent. The skin with the product applied should look fresher, and the complexion should be even and beautiful.

How to choose according to skin tone?

When choosing a foundation, you must first determine what skin tone you have. To do this, just look carefully at your wrist in natural light. Pay attention to the wreaths on the hands. If their shade is slightly bluish, your tone is cold, but if the wreaths have greenish, yellowish or olive shades, your tone is warm.

Girls with cool skin tones should choose foundations with pinkish tones, while those with warm skin tones should choose shades of beige.

If you cannot clearly decide what tone you have (warm or cool), you can opt for products with neutral colors that are universal for all types.

Very often, when choosing a shade of foundation, ladies focus on skin color. There are two main types:

  1. Reddish pink skin (found in people with good active blood circulation) - for such girls a cream in pink shades is suitable.
  2. Tan skin (found in people with a high melanin content) - golden and brown shades of foundation are ideal for owners of this type.

How to make the tone lighter?

Many makeup artists, who are guided by the basic rules of cosmetology, advise when choosing a foundation to choose a product that is one tone lighter than your skin tone. Thanks to this, the tone will look more natural and give the skin freshness and beauty.

Manufacturers

Many cosmetic companies are engaged in the production of foundations, among which there are brands that are very popular and in demand among customers. This Avon, Faberlic, Maybelline, L’Oreal, Max Factor and many others.

When choosing a manufacturer, pay attention to several main important points:

  1. product characteristics;
  2. availability of the desired shade of the product in the manufacturer’s palette;
  3. cream consistency;
  4. availability of the required volume of product and a dispenser convenient for you;
  5. price range;
  6. additional properties (sun protection, nutrition, tightening and many others).

Reviews

On the Internet, many fashionistas share their reviews of all kinds of foundations from different manufacturers. They like some brands more, others less. This is not surprising, because the choice of cosmetics is a purely individual matter. What suits one person perfectly, others absolutely dislike.

You can only choose a product that is 100% right for you through practical means. However, be sure to also pay attention to the reviews of girls on various forums - this way you can at least identify your favorites and weed out completely low-quality products.

On one issue, however, the opinions of all the girls agree. If you choose the right foundation and apply it correctly, it will not only hide all the imperfections of your facial skin, but will also protect it from ultraviolet rays and other external negative influences. The foundation will nourish the skin, keeping it youthful, healthy and beautiful.

Choosing a foundation. How to determine skin undertone

Even if you are an avid cosmetic minimalist, you probably use foundation or powder. Choosing foundations can be difficult, because each brand has its own color palette. I suggest you understand the color designations that are most often found, as well as how to choose the right foundation. Let me say right away that this is my personal opinion and vision, you may not agree with it.

Foundations differ not only in brightness - from light to dark, but also in the color itself - yellowish, peach, pink, grayish. To make it easier to understand, let’s start with a little “educational education”.

In colorism, there is the concept of warm and cold shades of the same color. For example, yellow can be both warm (yolk is a great example) and cold (lemon). It’s not at all difficult to distinguish one from the other: it’s as if a drop of red or orange was added to warm colors, and blue to cold colors. Here are some examples of such colors:

Left - warm, right - cold

Left - warm, right - cold

Left - warm, right - cold

However, there are also neutral shades in which warmth and cold are balanced. With them, everything is a little more complicated, but if you look at neutral shades in comparison with the previous two categories, then everything becomes clearer.

On the left is warm, in the middle is neutral, on the right is cold. They are all the same color at different temperatures. Cool red seems much pinker and lighter compared to the others. These are already features of the perception of color by the eye.

Cool (pink), neutral and warm (yellow) beige look like this for most foundation brands

And one more category of shades, which is found exclusively in foundations and is, in my opinion, the most difficult. These are neutrals with warm or cool undertones. How so? It looks approximately as if just a little warm or cold shade was added to a neutral color. It cannot be called distinctly warm or cold, but it is also neutral - it is in the middle. This category is found mainly in brands where the color palette of products is very wide.

Why do you need so many nuances?

The fact is that skin tone, even among people of the same race, is still different. For example, if you have a neutral skin tone, one brand has a division into yellowish and pinkish colors, and another also has neutrals. Most likely, in both cases you will find your color, but with the second brand this color will not have to be carefully shaded, since the shade will blend perfectly with your skin. This is exactly why such a variety of shades is needed.

The difficulty lies in the fact that at the moment there is no unified system of names and color classification of foundations. This is why many brands consider pink skin tones to be cold and nothing else (where should people with peach skin go?), and yellow to be warm (what about olive, greenish skin?). And others divide both pink and yellow into cold and warm.

However, the most common division is:

  1. Warm - warm yellow
  2. Cool - cold pink
  3. Neutral - neutral
  4. Neutral warm - neutral warm (yellow)
  5. Neutral cool - neutral-cold (pink)

However, the popular professional brand MAC separates the shades very differently. MAC's Cool is yellow, and Warm is pink.

So let's summarize:

  1. There is a division into warm, cool, neutral and neutral shades with cold/warm undertones. The same beige color can be with these shades.
  2. Each brand has its own classification, but the likelihood of finding the ideal tone is greater for those brands that have the widest color range.
  3. To begin with, it is important to determine the color - pinkish, yellowish, beige. And then the undertone - cool, warm, neutral, etc.
How to determine your color?

Look carefully at your face in the mirror (it’s better if you can also see your neck and décolleté)

Answer the question: what color predominates on your face - pink, yellow, or are they balanced? At the same time, pay attention to the neck and the area where the lower jaw transitions to the neck. Ideally, you shouldn't have much difference between your neck and face. If it does exist (the face is darker or lighter than the neck, or there is a lot of inflammation, because of this the skin appears redder than it is), then it is better to select a shade based on the color of the neck and décolleté - they should be the same color.

Try foundations with a wide range of colors in the store. Ask your consultant to apply a few suggested shades to your face, then go outside and see which blends best with your face and neck complexion.

Let's look at a specific example: I have a yellowish neutral skin tone, the word ivory perfectly characterizes it. The so-called “cold” (according to the classification of most brands) pinks look like a mask on me, I become unnaturally white, my face looks painful. In the photo, Alverde Compact Makeup 010 has this shade. Often, both neutral beige colors without a yellow undertone and cool, but yellow colors suit me. They don’t look foreign on the face, but they require a little more shading, while I can apply the ideal color even only to certain areas and there will be no difference with the complexion. I know that most brands don’t want to bother with an even larger palette of colors, so if a brand has neutral shades, then I look at them, if not, then warm. Most often, neutral turns out to be too pink, and warm - too reddish-yellowish. A good example is Kjaer Weis, it's too yellow and warm in addition to being dark for me. But the lighter shade was already too pink. And only once did I come across a yellow that was too cool - it was the Cream foundation from Lucy Minerals.

Era Minerals in shade 134 has a neutral undertone, I don’t know why it looks so dark in the photo (maybe because the layer is too thick), in real life it blends in with my skin tone. Zao is also a similar color to me, but it has a decidedly more yellowish tint than Era Minerals. Purobio oxidized and became completely yellow, even olive, and of course, too dark for me.

Korean BB creams tend to have a neutral undertone, which is why they are often called greyish. By the way, in English there is even a separate word for a too neutral grayish undertone - “ashy” (ashy, in this case meaning grayish).

At first glance, everything seems very complicated, but with practice you will understand which tones suit you best and which ones you should choose if the brand’s color range is very small. It is much easier if you choose a mineral foundation: you can always order two colors, for example, a neutral and a more yellow one, and, if necessary, dilute the foundation.

How would you define your skin color and undertone? What difficulties have you encountered in choosing a foundation color? Most often the foundation is yellow, pink or maybe gray?

What is the name of the lightest shade of foundation, ivory? or is there something lighter?

Ivory (Ivory beige) is approximately the same shade as Pink Opal, only the opal is slightly pinkish.

the lightest one is usually called Ivory - I really don’t know how it’s translated... Suitable for girls with very light, transparent porcelain, slightly pinkish skin.

There is just a light tone, ivory, still slightly yellowish, but still light.

if your skin is white

The shades of different brands of foundations are called differently. My shade is called Opal. Vichy foundation.

lighter, probably just whitewash (: well, it suits me (: because I’m pale as a toadstool ((:

Makeup and clothing color for pale skin

Foundation for pale skin

It is possible to emphasize the porcelain skin tone by using modern decorative cosmetics, for example, foundation.

Foundation for pale skin is represented by the following brands: Chanel, Dior, Clinique. For pale skin, you should not choose shades of foundation with a yellow base and bronzers. There is a trick that will help make your complexion more even. It is necessary to mix foundation and moisturizer in a 3:2 ratio and apply to the face.

Blush for pale skin

Bright shades of pink blush are prohibited for those with alabaster skin. Preference should be given to soft pink or peach shades.

Using blush can transform a woman's appearance. First of all, blush should be applied to the cheekbones and blended. After which a small amount of blush is applied to the upper eyelid. Some makeup artists recommend using blush only on the upper part of the cheekbones, away from the nasolabial folds. This technique will give your face a more youthful and fresh look.

Lipstick for pale skin

Pale skin needs refreshment and a healthy look. Using lipstick is an ideal means to achieve this goal.

Owners of porcelain skin will suit soft shades of lipsticks and glosses, namely peach, pink and sand. Thanks to them, your lips will acquire a seductive color, and your skin will become radiant and fresh.

Powder for pale skin

Choosing powder for pale skin is quite difficult. We can recommend products from the following manufacturers that are ideal for porcelain leather:

  1. Lumine, tone “0”.
  2. Marie Kay, color "ivory 1".
  3. Max Factor No. 01, 20, 85.
  4. Bourgeois Biodetox, there are several suitable shades.
  5. L`Oreal Alliance Perfect, tone R1.
  6. Vivien Szabo, moisturizing powder in the lightest shade.
  7. Chambord, light shades.
  8. Isa Dora, anti-shine.
  9. Pupa Silk Touch, No. 1.
  10. Triumph, light shade.

Hair color for pale skin

Those with pale skin often suffer from their deficiency - excessive paleness of the skin of the face and body seems to be a manifestation of soreness. But, with a creative approach, you can turn any disadvantage into an advantage. This way is to choose a good hair color if you have pale skin.

The most successful combination is considered to be dark hair color and pale, porcelain skin. And brunettes with brown eyes, endowed with very fair skin, are wildly popular among men. Therefore, owners of pale skin can compensate for this deficiency and emphasize their “highlights” by changing their hair color using dyeing. For the first time, such a procedure should be carried out with the help of an experienced hairdresser, who will advise you to choose the right shade of paint, as well as its manufacturer. It should be noted that “pale-faced” women, as a rule, have very sensitive skin, which can react with allergic rashes to any aggressive cosmetics and household chemicals.

Most often, the natural hair color of healthy women with pale skin is red. Although there are also blondes (blondes) with blue eyes, whom nature has endowed with light and sensitive skin. If representatives of the fair sex do not consider it necessary to change their hair color, then they need to brighten up the appearance of excessive pallor with the help of makeup and a suitable color of clothing.

Clothing colors for pale skin

Many people with fair skin face the problem of choosing clothes. For example, a light range of colors can blur the facial features of those with porcelain skin and make them look like ghosts. Therefore, clothing designers have developed certain rules that should be followed if you want to create an attractive look.

  1. First of all, it is necessary to use dark colors in clothes - dark blue, various shades of blue, emerald.
  2. Bright, clean colors of clothing for those with pale skin, for example, red, yellow, green will also look good.
  3. Lovers of black clothing should use bright accessories, for example, red tones.
  4. You should not wear clothes in white, beige, orange, cream and terracotta colors. These shades will make fair skin visually paler.
  5. Clothes in pastel colors are also not suitable for those with porcelain skin. But if, nevertheless, bright colors are not your favorite, then you should resort to pastel colors in cool shades, for example, turquoise.

Swimsuit color for pale skin

The color of a swimsuit for pale skin should emphasize the dignity of its owner, and not vice versa. Therefore, the most preferred swimsuits are neon colors, which enhance the brightness of the sun's rays and make those with pale skin more attractive.

For “pale-faced” women, swimsuits in blue and turquoise colors are most suitable. Anything resembling aqua is ideal for very fair skin.

Classic mistakes when choosing foundation. How to choose a foundation

This story will be without color pictures, and is entirely based on your imagination. So, we imagine how we go to Rivgochic in anticipation of a new foundation. Before we have time to enter, a consultant runs up and starts advising you, advising you, and now they apply foundation on your wrist and convince you how ideal it is. And so, without noticing how you had already bought it, you came home, and then you realized the magnitude of the mistake you made. But you won’t understand why what suited you so perfectly in the store is many times different from what it is now... And with a feeling of disappointment you put it away. Half of us do this. The other half considers this drawback not so significant and enjoys it perfectly, not suspecting that there is nothing worse if your skin is lighter and the cream is darker and vice versa. First of all, it's visible. Secondly, remember that your neck is your traitor and it will tell everyone what your tone really is. Therefore, it is better to remove it further and go for a new cream. But after reading my post, you should not make the following mistakes.

1) Never give your wrist to consultants. The cream must be applied to some part of the face, for example, on the chin or under the jawbone, to a small area that you can see in the mirror. 2) We applied it, and now we go outside. Yes Yes! It is on the street, despite the consultant’s songs, which will talk about the correct lighting in the store, that you will not see the correct result anywhere better than here, at this moment, closing your ears so as not to listen to such advice, you go outside. And so Only in daylight will your tone be immediately visible or not. Ideally, the cream should not be visible, this means that you hit the mark, but if you see that it is darker or lighter than your tone, then you missed. Let's go back and try again. The main thing is never buy a tone darker, this is the most common mistake. 3). If you find it difficult to make a final choice and are torn between two creams, then the optimal solution is to buy 2 creams, a darker and a lighter one, and mixing them in different proportions will get the optimal result.

P/S As for me, when I come to any cosmetic store, every time I appear in the image of a person who has little understanding of this matter, and I look at how and what they advise me, and to be honest, 90% of consultants recommend at best 1 tone, At worst, the cream is 2 shades darker than my skin. I don’t know, maybe they have a hidden purpose or some kind of intent, but for me it still remains a mystery.
