Candid-B6: detailed description of the antifungal drug

Candide-B6 is an antifungal drug produced by the Indian company Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It belongs to the pharmacological group of imidazole and triazole derivatives, which are widely used to treat fungal infections.

The active component of the drug is clotrimazole, which is an effective antifungal agent and acts on most species of fungi, including Candida albicans, Malassezia furfur, Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum and Microsporum canis.

Candide-B6 is available in various dosage forms, such as cream, aerosol, ointment, lotion, solution for external use, as well as vaginal tablets in a dosage of 100 mg. Vaginal tablets, vaginal gel and cream are used for the treatment of genital infections caused by Candida or Trichomonas vaginalis fungi, vaginal bacterial superinfections, and sanitation of the birth canal before childbirth. And other forms are used for urogenital candidiasis, erythrasma, dermatophytosis, inguinal epidermophytosis, paronychia, dermatomycosis of smooth skin, skin folds, beard, mustache, scalp, pityriasis versicolor, mycoses complicated by secondary pyoderma.

Candid-B6 is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to clotrimazole, as well as during pregnancy and lactation. When used, some side effects may occur, such as local reactions, allergic reactions and others.

Candid-B6 may also interact with other drugs, including polyene antibiotics such as amphotericin B and nystatin. An overdose of Candide-B6 has not been described.

It should be remembered that Candide-B6 should not come into contact with the mucous membranes of the eyes and use should be avoided in areas where the integrity of the skin is compromised. If signs of hypersensitivity or irritation occur, treatment with the drug should be discontinued.
