Among the most common side effects are dyspeptic symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, increased bleeding, interstitial nephritis, epileptiform seizures, neutropenia, pseudomembranous colitis, dysbacteriosis, candidiasis, hypovitaminosis, exacerbation reaction and allergic reactions such as skin rashes and itching, fever, serum sickness, angioedema and anaphylactic shock. Hyperemia and pain at the injection site may also be observed.

Carbenicillin disodium salt may interact with other medicines. For example, it can enhance the effects of direct and indirect anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents and fibrinolytics, and also increase the likelihood of side effects when combined with NSAIDs. The bactericidal effect is neutralized by bacteriostatics (tetracycline antibiotics, macrolides, chloramphenicol). Reduces (mutually) the activity of aminoglycosides.

Before using carbenicillin disodium salt, it is necessary to perform an intravenous test for individual sensitivity with 0.1 ml of the drug. The test results are assessed after 30 minutes.
