Kashchenko-Hofbauer Cells

The Kashtans-Hofbauer cell is a special type of cell that was discovered in 1909 by Nika Fedrovna Kashtansky and Johann Joseph Hofbauer, later an Austrian gynecologist (1878-1951). These cells are found in kidney and prostate tissue and play an important role in metabolism.

The origin of the name of these cells remains a mystery. Perhaps it is connected with the surname Kashtantsy, which translates as “famous doctor.” However, it is more likely that it is associated with the name of the founder of this cell, John Joseph Ho

Kashchenko-Hofbauer cells (also known as cells) are a group of cells that participate in the development of the embryo in the mother's body. They were named after the scientists who first described these cells - Nikolai Aleksandrovich Kashchenko (Russian histologist) and Johann Joseph Hofbauer (Austrian gynecologist).
