Layered keratoplasty

Layered keratoplasty (K. lamellaris, synonym: non-through) is a keratoplasty operation in which, after removing sections of the cornea, a graft from a donor cornea is applied to its surface.

The operation of layered keratoplasty is performed in the presence of corneal cataract, keratoconus, keratoglobus, pterygium, bullous keratopathy, corneal dystrophy, cicatricial deformation of the cornea and other diseases that require transplantation of donor material.

In layer-by-layer corneal plastic surgery, a flap of donor material is used, which is applied to the surface of the cornea in several layers.

Layered keratoplasty is a type of eye surgery that is used to correct corneal defects. This is a cosmetic and therapeutic procedure that allows you to change the shape, color and even transparency of the cornea of the eye. Layered keratoplasty (Latin Kera - horn, skin; plate and gr. sdr. χέρσθαι - touch) is a surgical method of restoring the outer surface of the cornea. For transplantation after keratoplasty surgery, antiglaucoma therapy is carried out (see also atropine test). Before the operation, it is necessary to do an extensive biochemical blood test, and for corneal resection operations, an X-ray of the skull. Before performing keratoplasty, it is imperative to undergo an additional examination, including an examination by an ophthalmologist, the results of tests of urine, blood and tear fluid. In addition to antiglaucomatous treatment after keratoplasty surgery on an outpatient basis and hospitalization, it is mandatory to wear glasses with plates. After keratoplasty treatment, the condition is monitored
