Periodontal cyst

A periodontal cyst, or paradental cyst, is a benign formation in the tissues around the tooth, which occurs as a result of infection and inflammation of the tissue. The cyst is formed as a result of periodontitis (inflammation of the tissues surrounding the tooth) and looks like a swelling or lump on the gum.

Cysts of periodontal origin are quite common and can develop in both adults and children. Symptoms of a cyst: pain when chewing or brushing teeth, discomfort in the gums. As a rule, a periodontal cyst leads to the development of periodontitis and loss of healthy teeth. Therefore, if you experience pain or other symptoms associated with the formation of a cyst, you should immediately contact your dentist for diagnosis and treatment.
