Serous ovarian cystoma (s. Ovarii Serosum) is a cystic formation that arises from the epithelium of the ovary and can be found in women of reproductive age. This formation can be either benign or malignant, depending on the histological examination.
Serous ovarian cystomas usually occur in women between the ages of 20 and 40, although they can occur at any age. They are usually asymptomatic but may present as abdominal pain, bloating, bleeding or menstrual irregularities.
Treatment of serous ovarian cystomas can be surgical or medical. Surgical treatment includes removal of the cystoma and ovary. Drug treatment may include the use of hormonal medications, which can reduce the size of the cystoma.
However, although serous cystomas can be removed surgically, they may recur in the future. Therefore, it is important to undergo regular examinations with a doctor and monitor your health.
