Klion-D: an effective medicine for the treatment of vaginal infections

Klion-D is a medication used to treat vaginal infections caused by fungi, bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms. The drug is produced in Hungary by the pharmaceutical company Gedeon Richter A.O. and has the international name Metronidazole + Miconazole. In addition, it is also known under the synonyms Klion-D 100 and Neo-Penotran.

The dosage form of Klion-D is vaginal tablets containing 100 mg of active substance. The composition of one vaginal suppository includes metronidazole 0.5 g and miconazole nitrate 0.1 g. The drug is effective in combating diseases such as trichomoniasis, amoebiasis, candidiasis and other protozoal infections.

Klion-D is contraindicated for use in case of hypersensitivity, during breastfeeding and in the first trimester of pregnancy. When used, side effects may occur, such as headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, ataxia, convulsions, allergic reactions and others.

The drug may also interact with other drugs, enhancing the effect of oral anticoagulants and increasing the toxicity of lithium preparations. In case of overdose, various symptoms may occur, including dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, itching and others.

When prescribing Klion-D, caution must be exercised in case of severe liver diseases, hematopoietic disorders and diseases of the nervous system. To avoid re-infection, simultaneous treatment of the sexual partner is necessary. If the vaginal irritation is severe, treatment should be stopped, and it is not recommended to drink alcohol while taking the drug.
