Colpocytodiagnosis

Colpocytodiagnosis (also known as Papanicolaou test) is a cytological test used for the early diagnosis of cervical cancer and other diseases of the cervix.

The essence of the method is to collect cells from the surface of the cervix and cervical canal using a special brush that rotates around an axis. The resulting material is applied to a glass slide, fixed and stained using a special technique (Papanicolaou staining). The specimen is then examined under a microscope for the presence of atypical and malignant cells.

The method makes it possible to identify precancerous diseases and cervical cancer at the earliest stages of development, when there are no clinical manifestations yet. This makes it possible to start treatment in a timely manner and prevent further progression of the disease.

Colpocytodiagnosis is an effective and inexpensive method for screening for cervical cancer. All women are recommended to undergo such examination regularly for early detection of pathology.
