Contact

Contact is the transmission of an infectious disease through touch or close contact with a sick person or animal (direct contact) or indirect contact (indirect contact) through airborne droplets, through feces contaminated with pathogenic microorganisms, etc.

With direct contact, infection is transmitted by touching the patient (for example, scabies, fungal skin diseases).

With indirect contact, infection can be transmitted through contaminated objects, surfaces, air (for example, influenza, measles). Fecal-oral infections transmitted through the patient’s feces are especially dangerous.

Many very contagious and dangerous diseases are transmitted by contact. Therefore, preventive measures are important - hygiene, disinfection, isolation of patients, wearing masks and gloves by medical staff. Following the rules can prevent the spread of infections through contact.

Contact – transmission of an infectious disease from a sick person or animal to a healthy one through direct or indirect contact.

Direct contact involves coming into direct contact with someone who is infected, such as shaking hands, kissing, hugging, or sharing utensils.

Indirect contact includes transmission of infection through objects that have been touched by a sick person, such as door handles, handrails on public transport, toys, a telephone handset, a computer keyboard or a monitor.

Airborne transmission occurs through the inhalation of infected droplets produced by coughing, sneezing and talking.

Animal and human feces may contain pathogens that can be transmitted through contact.

Contact is the most common way of transmitting infections and can happen anywhere - at home, work, school or public places.

To prevent contact with infection, it is necessary to follow the rules of hygiene, wash your hands before eating and after using the toilet, avoid close contact with sick people and animals, use masks and gloves in public places and maintain distance when interacting with people.
