The conjunctiva is the delicate, transparent tissue of the eye that covers the inside of the eyeball and protects it from damage and infection. The function of the conjunctiva of the eyelids is to protect the mucous membrane of the eye from drying, contamination and damage, as well as to ensure its hydration.
