Conjunctivitis Streptococcal

The first subtype of this disease received its name in honor of the bacterial microflora that caused it - streptococcus pyogenes. In this regard, it is also called purulent conjunctivitis.

2. The causative agent of conjunctivitis is streptococcus (streptococci), which appears with a runny nose, sore throat, colds and acute respiratory infections.

3. The main causes of allergic conjunctivitis are: - allergy to dust; - allergy to pet hair; - plants; - antibiotics; - food products; - cosmetical tools;

4. Allergic reactions of the body to: pollen, flowers, food, cold or hot weather can also provoke conjunctivitis. Hormonal and endocrine disorders in the body play an important role in the development of the disease. For this reason, it can appear in patients suffering from diabetes and hyperthyroidism, as well as in people whose immune system is seriously weakened.

5. The incubation period of the disease ranges from several hours to 3-4 days. After this time, a person experiences the following symptoms of conjunctivitis:

- redness and swelling of the conjunctiva;

- pain when blinking; - itching sensation in the eyes;

6. With toxic conjunctivitis, symptoms can appear quickly and severely. In other words, conjunctivitis can begin to develop within a few hours after contact with toxic substances. Spontaneous conjunctivitis occurs due to exposure of the mucous membrane of the eye to ultraviolet radiation. In this case, the symptoms of the disease will be redness, swelling and itching of the eye.
