Cortex

The brain is one of the main human organs. It is responsible for all body functions, from breathing to decision making. One of the most important parts of the brain is the cerebral cortex. This part of the brain is made up of many neurons and performs complex functions. Some of these functions include information processing, decision making, memory, and motor coordination.

The cerebral cortex is divided into several layers. Each layer performs a specific function. The outermost layer is called the neocortex and is responsible for processing sensory information. Below is the precentral gyrus and is responsible for coordinating body movements. The next layer is the postcentral convoluted layer and it includes the motor area, which is responsible for generating commands for the muscles. The following layers of the cortex are associative and they connect information processed in different areas of the cortex. The lower layer of the cerebral cortex is called the internal angular gyrus and it helps you remember long strings of words and phrases.

One of the most well-known functions of the cortex is the processing of sensory information for decision making. For example, when you listen to music or read a book, you experience many different feelings that are processed in the cerebral cortex. They are interpreted and linked together to form an idea of what you see or hear. When this information is processed, the cerebral cortex prepares responses and reactions to signals. The cortex is also responsible for memory and emotions. It stores information about past experiences and can evoke emotions when they are remembered. In addition, the cortex is involved in motor control and coordination of body movements.

However, the cortex can not only control body movements, but also impair coordination of movements, as in the case of the development of Parkinson's disease. In this case, changes occur in the motor skills of the arms and legs, which complicates motor functions and leads to problems with balance and walking. Sometimes, people may experience a state of confusion, disorientation and confusion, especially if they do not perform usual activities.

The human brain is extremely complex, and the cerebral cortex is only one of its many parts. Studying the features of the cerebral cortex has enormous potential in the development of artificial intelligence and interaction with people and computers. Although not everyone can fully understand the structures and functions of the brain, many advances in this area will help improve the quality of life for patients.
