Cricostomy

Cricostoma

**Cricostomy or cricothyrotomy** is commonly called surgical access to the tracheoesophageal zone through the vocal folds and interarytenoid space. In the practice of an otorhinolaryngologist, such an operation often serves as the method of choice in the treatment of patients with laryngeal cancer (T3 and T4) at stage II. These patients are scheduled for radical removal of the laryngeal tumor and subsequent organ-preserving surgery.
