Placental blood is the name given to the scarlet mucous clots with occasional elements of meconium that are released during bleeding from the uterus in the last 2 months of pregnancy. These are old or repeated neuritis. The word “placental” in the name means the origin of blood from the placenta. Bleeding from the endometrium after childbirth or destruction is accompanied by bloody discharge of a different color. This blood is released soon after delivery and contains many blood cells and large fibrin flakes.
