Quinolox

Quinolox: use, side effects and special instructions

Quinolox (international name - norfloxacin) is an antimicrobial drug from the fluoroquinolone group, produced by the Indian company Copran Ltd. It is widely used to treat infections of the urinary tract, genitals, gastrointestinal tract and eyes.

Quinolox is available in the form of 400 mg tablets containing the active substance norfloxacin. It is effective in treating infections caused by various bacteria, including gram-negative and gram-positive.

However, like other antibiotics, Quinolox can cause side effects. Among them are dyspeptic syndrome, dysfunctions of the urinary system, central nervous system, cardiovascular system, visual organs, musculoskeletal system and others. Additionally, caution should be exercised when using Quinolox as it may cause allergic reactions.

Quinolox is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to its components, end-stage chronic renal failure, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, pregnancy, lactation, as well as in children and adolescents under 15 years of age.

Quinolox may also interact with other medications. Simultaneous use of antacids containing aluminum or magnesium hydroxide, as well as preparations containing iron and zinc, slows down absorption. The appointment interval between them should not be less than 3 hours. Quinolox can also increase the blood concentration of indirect coagulants, cyclosporine and reduce the effect of nitrofurans.

During treatment with Quinolox, patients should receive a sufficient amount of fluid, and the condition of the coagulation system should be monitored. You need to be especially careful when using Quinolox for atherosclerosis of cerebral vessels, cerebrovascular accidents, epilepsy and convulsive syndrome, as well as for impaired renal and liver function. Caution is also required when administering barbiturates and anesthetics simultaneously.

Quinolox is a powerful antibiotic that can be effective in treating infections, but its use must be controlled and careful. If any side effects occur, consult your doctor immediately.
