L-Thyroxine-Farmak: a drug that stimulates thyroid function
L-Thyroxine-Farmak is one of the most common drugs used to treat hypothyroidism and other thyroid diseases. The drug is produced by the Ukrainian pharmaceutical company Farmak and is one of the most popular in Ukraine.
L-Thyroxine-Farmak belongs to the group of drugs that stimulate thyroid function. The active ingredient of the drug, sodium levothyroxine, is a synthetic analogue of the natural thyroid hormone - thyroxine.
The drug is available in the form of tablets containing 25 mcg, 50 mcg and 100 mcg of levothyroxine sodium. L-Thyroxine-Farmak is widely used for the treatment of hypothyroidism of various etiologies, including hypothyroidism caused by autoimmune Hashimoto's thyroiditis, multinodular goiter and thyroid dysfunction after surgery.
In addition, L-Thyroxine-Farmak can be used as a suppressive therapy for simple non-toxic goiter, as well as for conducting a suppressive scintigraphic test of the thyroid gland. The drug may also be used for thyrotropin-dependent, well-differentiated papillary or follicular thyroid carcinomas.
Despite the widespread use of L-Thyroxine-Farmak, the drug has a number of contraindications and side effects. The drug is not recommended for use in cases of hypersensitivity to levothyroxine sodium, untreated thyrotoxicosis, acute myocardial infarction, severe hypertension, angina pectoris, myocarditis, heart failure, tachysystolic rhythm disturbances, old age (over 65 years) and uncorrected dysfunction of the adrenal cortex.
Side effects of L-Thyroxine-Farmak may include tachycardia, rhythm disturbances, chest pain, tremor, insomnia, anxiety, hyperhidrosis, alopecia, weight loss, diarrhea and adrenal dysfunction.
You should also take into account the possible interaction of L-Thyroxin-Farmak with other drugs, which can lead to a deterioration in the effectiveness of their use or increased side effects. Therefore, before starting to take L-Thyroxine-Farmak, you must consult your doctor and inform him about all the medications you are taking.
In addition, taking L-Thyroxine-Farmak should be under the strict supervision of a doctor, who will monitor the level of thyroid hormones in the blood and adjust the dosage of the drug if necessary.
In general, L-Thyroxine-Farmak is an effective drug that allows you to normalize the function of the thyroid gland and improve the quality of life of patients with hypothyroidism. However, before you start using it, you need to familiarize yourself with contraindications and side effects, and also consult your doctor.
