Laryngoscopy

Laryngoscopy is a method of examining the larynx and vocal cords using a special device - a laryngoscope. The laryngoscope provides illumination and magnification of the object of study, which allows you to study its condition in more detail.

Laryngoscopy is performed if there is a suspicion of diseases of the larynx that can lead to voice or breathing problems. Such diseases include laryngitis, laryngotracheitis, laryngeal tumors, and other diseases.

The laryngoscopy procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia, which avoids pain. The doctor inserts an endoscope into the larynx through the mouth or nose and examines the vocal cords and other structures of the larynx. If necessary, a tissue biopsy may be taken for further examination.

After the procedure, the doctor may recommend further treatment or observation to the patient depending on the results of the study.
