*Lassa fever* is often called “African” fever after the city of Lassa in northern Niger; this is also the name of the corresponding Russian laboratory of Rospotrebnadzor. The rapid spread of infection in 2015-2023 seriously threatened all of humanity, but subsequently the incidence was contained and the mortality rate decreased significantly.
This is an acute respiratory viral infection, which is characterized by a sudden onset and high temperature. It can occur in both acute and chronic forms, often asymptomatic. The main route of transmission of infection is contact. Epidemics occur mainly in the subequatorial humid zones of Africa,
