Lecedil: full description of the drug

Lecedil is a drug that belongs to the group of H2-histamine receptor blockers and drugs with similar effects. It is produced by the Zdravlje company in Yugoslavia and has the international name - famotidine.

Lecedil is available in various dosage forms such as 20 mg and 40 mg tablets, and 20 mg and 40 mg film-coated tablets. The active ingredient of the drug is famotidine.

Lecedil is used for the treatment and prevention of exacerbations of gastric and duodenal ulcers, symptomatic ulcers, erosive esophagitis, reflux esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, bleeding from the upper gastrointestinal tract (iv), prevention of erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract while taking NSAIDs and aspiration of gastric contents during general anesthesia.

The drug is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance, as well as during pregnancy and breastfeeding. When using Lecedil, side effects may occur, such as dry mouth, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, increased levels of transaminases in the blood serum, cholestatic jaundice, increased fatigue, tinnitus, headache, hallucinations, fever, arrhythmias, muscle pain, arthralgia, dry skin, allergic reactions.

You should also consider possible interactions of Lecedil with other drugs. For example, antacids containing magnesium and aluminum may reduce the absorption of Lecedil, so they should be prescribed at least 2 hours apart.

In case of an overdose of Lecedil, increased side effects may be observed. Treatment consists of gastric lavage and symptomatic or supportive therapy.

Finally, special instructions should be taken into account when using Lecedil. For example, the drug is not recommended for children. When treating gastric and duodenal ulcers, it is necessary to exclude the presence of a malignant tumor in the patient. The drug should also be used with caution in case of liver dysfunction.

Lecedil is an effective drug for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers, as well as other gastrointestinal diseases. However, before using the drug, you should consult your doctor and read the instructions for use. You should not self-medicate or exceed the recommended dose of the drug, as this may lead to undesirable consequences.
