Libexin

Libexin: antitussive drug from Hungary

Libexin (international name - Prenoxdiazine) is an antitussive drug produced by the Hungarian company Hinoin. It is presented in the form of tablets containing 100 mg of the active substance - prenoxdiazine.

Indications for the use of Libexin include the treatment of dry cough caused by acute or chronic bronchitis, inflammation of the upper respiratory tract (laryngitis, pharyngitis), bronchopneumonia, bronchial asthma and emphysema. It can also be used to prepare for bronchoscopy and bronchography, in combination with atropine.

Despite its effectiveness, Libexin has a number of contraindications, including hypersensitivity to the active substance, as well as exacerbations of broncho-obstructive diseases, accompanied by the presence of viscous, difficult-to-discharge secretions or copious sputum production. In addition, the use of Libexin during pregnancy requires caution.

When using Libexin, side effects may occur, such as numbness, dry mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, nausea, diarrhea and allergic reactions (skin rash, angioedema).

Despite the fact that there is no data on the interaction of Libexin with other drugs, you should consult with your doctor before using Libexin.

There is no data on an overdose of Libexin, however, if symptoms of an overdose appear, you should immediately seek medical help.

In general, Libexin is an effective antitussive that can be used to treat dry cough of various origins. However, like any medicine, it should be used only as prescribed by a doctor and under his supervision.
