Ligaments Intersphenoidal Interosseous

Intersphenoidal interosseous ligaments (l.intercuneiformiainterosseainterosseafibers) are connective tissue formations located between the sphenoid and interosseous bones of the forearm (hand) and strengthen them. Ligaments are made up of many bundles of collagen fibers that form strong, elastic connections between bones.

The intersphenoid ligaments are located in the carpal region, where they connect both lateral cuneiform bones to the interosseous and metacarpal bones. These ligaments serve an important function in maintaining stability and movement of the hand, and are also involved in the processes of flexion and extension of the wrist.

Between the sphenoid and interosseous bones there are two ligaments: the interosseous ligament and the intersphenoid ligament. Both are important for hand stability and function.

The first, the interosseous ligament, consists of longitudinal fibers running from the base of the sphenoid bones to the base of the interosseous bones. It plays a role in maintaining the shape of the hand and provides stability to the hand position.

The second, the intersphenoid ligament, has the shape of an arc and connects the bases of the sphenoid and interosseous bones, providing their connection and stability. In addition, it is involved in flexion and extension of the wrist.

The importance of the intercuneiform interosseous ligaments in maintaining stability and function of the hand is undeniable. Therefore, for injuries or diseases of the hands associated with damage to these ligaments, it is necessary to carry out treatment and rehabilitation taking into account their role in stabilizing and moving the hand.

Intercuneiform interosseous ligaments The interosseous ligaments (syn. interosseous ligament between the bases of the first and fifth metatarsals, Latin: ligamentum intercuneiforms capitis mallei, French: lieraine intercuniforme branche de feuilles), also called the calcaneal or long interosseous ligament, are an articular group of ligaments in the lateral zone of the middle phalanx feet.
