Livo-Lac: An effective remedy for constipation and other gastrointestinal disorders

Livo-Lac is a synthetic laxative manufactured in India by Panacea Biotech. Its active component is lactulose, which is the international name of the drug. Livo-Lac is also known by various synonyms such as Duphalac, Lactulose Poly, Lactulose syrup, Normaze, Portalac and Portalac.

Livo-Lac is available in syrup form and is widely used to treat various conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. It is effective for constipation, including chronic constipation, and for hepatic encephalopathy, including comatose and pre-comatose states. Livo-Lac is also used for intestinal flora disorders, including salmonellosis, shigellosis and other infections, as well as for putrefactive dyspepsia syndrome in young children and pain syndrome after removal of hemorrhoids.

Despite its effectiveness, Livo-Lac has some contraindications. It is not recommended for hypersensitivity to lactulose, galactosemia and intestinal obstruction. Taking the drug may be accompanied by some side effects, such as flatulence, diarrhea, cramping, nausea, vomiting, discomfort and loss of electrolytes.

It is important to consider the interaction of Livo-Lac with other medications. Antibiotics such as neomycin and non-absorbable antacids may reduce the effectiveness of the drug. Therefore, it is recommended not to take lactulose within 2 hours of taking other medications.

In case of an overdose of Livo-Lac, symptoms such as diarrhea and abdominal pain may occur. In such cases, you should immediately stop taking the drug.

When using Livo-Lac, you must follow some special instructions. It is used with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus, especially in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy, as well as in patients with lactose intolerance. If diarrhea occurs, it is recommended to stop taking the drug. For gastrocardial syndrome, doses should be gradually increased to avoid flatulence. In most cases, flatulence disappears on its own after a few days.

The dosage of Livo-Lac may vary depending on the patient's condition and the doctor's recommendations. It is usually recommended to start with a low dose and gradually increase it until the desired effect is achieved. For the treatment of constipation in adults, 15-45 ml of syrup per day is usually used, and for the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy - 30-45 ml per day. Doses for children are determined depending on their age and weight.

It is important to consult with your doctor before using Livo-Lac, especially if you have any underlying health conditions or are taking other medications.

It is strongly recommended to follow your doctor's instructions and instructions for use of the drug.
