Lorison

Lorizon: Third generation cephalosporin from Portugal

Lorizon, also known by the international name Cefoperazone, is a pharmaceutical drug belonging to the group of third-generation cephalosporins. It is produced by the Portuguese company Atral SA Laboratories and is widely used in clinical practice to combat various infectious diseases.

Lorizon is presented in the form of a lyophilized powder for the preparation of an injection solution. Its active substance is Cefoperazone. The drug is effective in the treatment of infections of the respiratory and urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, bones and joints, as well as genital organs, including endometritis and gonorrhea. It is also used to treat intra-abdominal infections such as peritonitis, cholecystitis and cholangitis, as well as to combat septicemia. In addition, Lorizon can be used to prevent infectious postoperative complications.

It is necessary to take into account contraindications to the use of Lorizon, such as hypersensitivity to the drug, hepatic and severe renal failure, pregnancy and breastfeeding. When using Lorizon, side effects may occur, including neutropenia, eosinophilia, hypocoagulation, anemia, renal dysfunction, nausea, diarrhea, pseudomembranous colitis, allergic reactions, pain at the injection site and phlebitis when administered intravenously.

It is also important to consider the possible interaction of Lorizon with other drugs. It enhances the antimicrobial effect and nephrotoxicity of aminoglycosides, but is pharmaceutically incompatible with them. The effectiveness of Lorizon may be reduced when used simultaneously with chemotherapy drugs that cause bacteriostasis.

In some cases, there may be special instructions for the use of Lorizon. It should be used with caution in patients with a history of allergies to penicillin or other cephalosporin antibiotics, in newborns and premature infants, in the elderly and senile, in alcoholics, and in patients with an increased risk of bleeding, partial biliary obstruction, diseases liver and breastfeeding womenIt is important to note that the information provided above is correct as of my last update in September 2021. It is recommended that you consult your healthcare professional or pharmacist for up-to-date information about medications, including Lorizon, and their uses.
