Lovir

Lovir is an antiherpetic drug produced in India by Ranbaxy Laboratories.

The international nonproprietary name of the drug is Acyclovir.

Lovir is available in the form of 200 mg tablets for oral administration and as a 5% cream for external use.

Indications for use:

  1. Primary and recurrent herpetic lesions of the skin and mucous membranes, including genital herpes.
  2. Herpetic lesions in patients with immunodeficiency (treatment and prevention).
  3. Herpes zoster, chicken pox.
  4. Simple herpetic keratitis.

Contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug and during breastfeeding.

Side effects: headache, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, allergic reactions. With intravenous administration, disturbances of consciousness, convulsions, and coma are possible.

Lovir is recommended to be taken orally after meals with plenty of liquid. When using the cream externally, avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
