Lewis Sample

The Lewis test is a medical test named after the 20th century English surgeon Thomas Lewis. It is used to diagnose joint and ligament diseases.

During this test, the patient lies on his back, and the doctor grabs the patient's leg with one hand and the knee with the other. The doctor then bends the patient's knee, straightens it, and rotates the foot inward. This movement stretches the internal ligaments of the knee.

If pain occurs in the area of the inner surface of the knee during the test, this may indicate damage to the medial collateral ligament or medial meniscus of the knee joint.

The Lewis test helps diagnose ligament and meniscus tears, arthritis and other diseases of the knee joint. It is easy to perform and is an important diagnostic tool for physicians.
