Magne B6

Magne B6: Magnesium-based product for prevention and treatment

Magne B6 is a medicine produced by the pharmaceutical company Sanofi Winthrop Industry in France. It belongs to the group of magnesium-based products and is intended for the prevention and treatment of magnesium deficiency and related disorders.

Magne B6 is available in two dosage forms: film-coated tablets and an oral solution. The main active ingredients of the drug are magnesium lactate and pyridoxine hydrochloride. Magnesium is an important trace element for the body, responsible for the normal functioning of many systems and processes, including the functioning of the cardiovascular, nervous and muscular systems.

Indications for use of Magne B6 include the prevention of magnesium deficiency and various disorders associated with it. These may be sleep disturbances, increased nervous excitability, a state of physical and mental fatigue, pain and muscle spasms, asthenia (general weakness). The drug can be used by both adults and children.

However, there are some contraindications to the use of Magne B6. These are hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, severe renal failure (if the glomerular filtration rate of creatinine is less than 30 ml/min) and phenylketonuria. During pregnancy, Magne B6 can be used as prescribed by a doctor, since clinical experience has not revealed fetotoxic effects or developmental defects with its use. However, it is not recommended to take the drug during breastfeeding, since magnesium can pass into breast milk.

Magne B6 may have some side effects. Rarely, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and flatulence from the digestive system may occur. Allergic reactions to the components of the drug are also possible.

It is necessary to pay attention to the interaction of Magne B6 with other drugs. Phosphates and calcium salts can significantly reduce the absorption of magnesium in the gastrointestinal tract. Magnesium preparations also reduce the absorption of tetracyclines, so it is recommended to maintain an interval of 3 hours between doses of these drugs. Magnesium weakens the effect of oral thrombolytic agents and reduces the absorption of iron. Pyridoxine, which is part of Magne B6, may increase the effect of certain drugs, such as levodopa (a drug used for Parkinson's disease).

It is important to consult with your doctor or pharmacist before starting to take Magne B6, especially if you have any existing medical conditions or are taking other medications, to avoid unwanted interactions and side effects.
