CitrusreticulataBlanco
The homeland of the mandarin is China, and the name came from there. Fragrant orange fruits with juicy pulp were a traditional gift to a Chinese official who worked as a mandarin in court. To this day, tangerines are the most popular delicacy among the Chinese. In the Land of the Setting Sun, it is customary to preserve tangerine slices. For these purposes, the Unshiu variety is used, the fruits of which do not contain seeds.
Europeans and Americans have known this plant since the 19th century. Italy and Spain are the main suppliers of mandarin essential oil with a delicate floral and fruity aroma.
Children love tangerines very much, some of them even eat the peel, and rightly so. It is the peel that contains essential oil and carotene, which, turning into retinol, ensures normal growth of the body, has a beneficial effect on vision, and performs other important functions.
The French are convinced that tangerine is a valuable children's medicine for indigestion, hiccups and weak resistance to colds.
