Mandibular Canal

Mandibular canal - This is a canal in the lower jaw that connects the oral cavity with the facial bone. It passes through the lower jaw and allows the transmission of nerve impulses, blood vessels and lymphatic vessels between these two areas.

The mandibular canal consists of three parts:

  1. Alveolar part – this part of the canal passes through the alveoli of the lower jaw. It contains blood vessels and nerves that supply the lower jaw and gums.

  2. Lymphatic part – it is located between the alveolar part and the facial bone. This part of the canal contains lymphatic vessels that drain lymph from the lower jaw.

  3. Front part – this section of the canal is located on the front side of the lower jaw and connects it to the facial bone. This part of the canal contains blood vessels, nerves and muscles that allow the movement of the lower jaw.
