Medaxone

Medakson (Medaxone) is a drug that is produced in Cyprus and belongs to the group of third generation cephalosporins. It is used to treat various bacterial infections such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, abdominal infections and others.

The main active substance of Medaxone is ceftriaxone. It is a semi-synthetic antibiotic that has a broad spectrum of action against many bacteria, including streptococci, staphylococci, pneumococci and others. Medaxone is available in powder form for the preparation of injection solutions of various concentrations - 1000 mg and 500 mg.

Indications for the use of Medaxone include the treatment of infections caused by ceftriaxone-sensitive bacteria. This may include pneumonia, pyelonephritis, skin infections, bone and soft tissue infections, and other diseases.

Contraindications to the use of Medaxone may include hypersensitivity to cephalosporins, allergy to penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics, as well as children under 1 month of age.

Side effects of Medaxone are usually expressed in the form of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, urticaria and angioedema. Gastrointestinal problems such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain may also occur. In rare cases, nervous system disorders such as headache and dizziness may occur.
