Mengo encephalitis

Mengo encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain caused by the Mengo virus. This virus belongs to the flavivirus family and is transmitted by ticks.

Symptoms of Mengo encephalitis include high fever, headaches, nausea, vomiting, and disturbances of consciousness. The disease can lead to encephalitis (inflammation of the brain), meningitis (inflammation of the meninges), or meningoencephalitis. Complications may include paralysis, speech impairment, hearing impairment, vision impairment, and cognitive impairment.

Treatment of Mengo encephalitis is mainly symptomatic. A vaccine against Mengo virus exists, but routine vaccination of the population is not carried out. Prevention involves protecting against tick bites. Mengo encephalitis is a potentially dangerous disease requiring hospitalization and intensive care.
