Meningitis Metastatic

Metastatic meningitis is a medical concept that refers to a special type of meningitis that occurs as a result of the spread of infection beyond the brain and is localized in the internal organs.

Metastatic meningitis is a fairly rare disease that occurs mainly in immunocompromised patients or the elderly. This form of meningitis is caused by different types of microbes, such as staphylococci, pneumococci or tuberculous mycobacteria, as well as viruses. This type of meningocyte manifests itself with complaints of headache, fever, fatigue, loss of appetite and deterioration in general well-being. Diagnosis consists of various blood tests and other studies. Treatment includes antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs, and a bone transplant may also be required.
