Causes

The main reasons for the development of mesarteritis:

  1. Infectious diseases (tuberculosis, syphilis, influenza)

  2. Autoimmune diseases (periarteritis nodosa, Kawasaki disease)

  3. Allergic reactions to drugs and chemicals

  4. Injuries and surgeries

Symptoms

Typical symptoms of mesarteritis:

  1. Pain in muscles and joints

  2. Increased body temperature

  3. Weight loss and weakness

  4. Headaches and dizziness

Diagnosis is based on blood tests, x-rays and biopsies of the affected arteries.

Treatment includes the use of antibiotics, glucocorticoids and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The prognosis depends on the course and cause of the disease. With timely treatment, complete recovery is possible.
