Mesoplasm [Old; Mesoplasma; Meso- + (Cyto)Plasma]

Introduction Mesoplasm is a part of the cytoplasm of the cell membrane, which is located between the ectoplasm and the endoplasmic reticulum. Estrogenic hormones are associated with higher levels of apoptotic mesoplasm in rat mammary cells. Dietary intake may also influence plasmase levels, but this relationship is unclear and requires further investigation. Cytokeratin and its effects are briefly discussed at the end of this article.
