Metamizole Sodium

Metamizole sodium is a representative of a drug from the group of analgesics-antipyretics, a pyrazole derivative, the active ingredient of which is metamizole.

Indications for use include pain of various types; febrile conditions that can be caused by acute infectious diseases, injuries, burns, purulent processes, etc. It is used as a painkiller for pathological processes that accompany injuries: dislocations, sprains, fractures, swelling, bruises. Can be used for the symptomatic treatment of acute myocardial infarction.

Restrictions for use are indicated in the leaflet for the drug. It is not recommended for use in case of an allergic reaction to the main substance; during pregnancy and lactation, with congenital hemolytic anemia and blood cancer. Metamisol should not be used together with other substances that negatively affect hematopoiesis and blood circulation. There are also many contraindications for patients suffering from problems with the cardiovascular system, kidneys and liver.

Possible side effects are similar to what has already been indicated in contraindications: allergic reactions, bleeding, anemia. Most often, patients are susceptible to allergic reactions: bronchospasms, chills, rash, Quincke's edema, asphyxia - anaphylactoid shock.
