Methotrexate
Methotrex is an antimetabolic drug from the group of chemotherapy drugs. It was synthesized in the second half of the last century, and was first registered in the United States as an anticancer drug in 1960. And, although at first, the drug was considered an effective toxicotherapy in the treatment of cancer, it is now used quite rarely in medicine. This popularity is due to the presence of a large number of serious side effects.
About the drug
Antimetabolic is a drug that displaces an antagonist (metabolite) in the tissues and thus blocks the biochemical processes of metabolism (metabolism).
However, antimetabolic drugs are very toxic. Methotrek, if the administration method is violated, can cause myelosuppression syndrome: * intoxication * inhibition of bone marrow hematopoiesis * decrease in the level of neutrophils and lymphocytes * decrease in the body's defenses.
