Mibiron

Mibiron: H1-histamine receptor blocker from Greece

Mibiron, also known by its international name astemizole, is an H1-histamine receptor blocker produced by the Greek pharmaceutical company Faran Laboratories. This drug is widely used in the treatment of various allergic diseases.

Mibiron is available in the form of tablets with a dosage of 10 mg. Its active ingredient is astemizole. The drug is used for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, allergic skin reactions (including chronic idiopathic urticaria), pruritus, angioedema (for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes) and adjuvant therapy for bronchial asthma.

Despite its effectiveness, Mibiron has some contraindications and limitations for use. It is not recommended for persons with known hypersensitivity to astemizole or other components of the drug, as well as during pregnancy, breastfeeding and in children under 2 years of age. The use of Mibiron requires caution in case of prolongation of the QT interval on the electrocardiogram, hypokalemia and serious liver dysfunction.

Mibiron may have side effects including weakness, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, nervousness, mood disorders, insomnia, nightmares, paresthesia, convulsions, depression, conjunctivitis and other nervous and cardiovascular reactions. It may also cause gastrointestinal, liver and allergic side effects.

Mibiron may interact with some drugs, including imidazole antifungals, macrolides, metronidazole, quinine and mibefradil. In addition, drugs that prolong the QT interval may increase the cardiotoxicity of Mibiron. You should also avoid consuming grapefruit juice at the same time, as this may slow down your metabolism and increase the concentration of Mibiron in the blood.

In case of Mibiron overdose, serious symptoms may occur, such as ventricular arrhythmias, syncope, seizures, cardiac or respiratory arrest. In such situations, it is necessary to induce vomiting, gastric lavage and activated charcoal. It is also recommended to seek medical attention immediately.

It is important to remember that the information provided here is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified physician or pharmacist. If you have any questions or concerns about the use of Mibiron or any other medicines, please consult your healthcare professional.
