Monomycin

Monomycin is an antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group, produced in Russia by the company GNIISKLS.

Monomycin has an international nonproprietary name. Available in standard form.

Monomycin is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial antibiotic. It has a bactericidal effect, disrupting protein synthesis in the bacterial cell. Active against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

Used for infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues. It is also used in complex therapy of tuberculosis.

Monomycin is available in the form of powder for injection and tablets. The drug is well absorbed when administered parenterally and orally.

Side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and allergic reactions. With prolonged use, the development of dysbacteriosis and superinfection is possible.
