The nasolacrimal duct is one of the most important elements of the lacrimal drainage system of the human body. It is located in the vestibule of the nose and ensures the unhindered movement of tear fluid into the nasal cavity, which contributes to the hygiene of the mucous membrane. The mucociliary apparatus of the ducts of the nasolacrimal canal ensures the timely removal of mucus from the anterior end of the canal, and, if necessary, cleansing of conjunctival cells, exfoliated eyelashes and other foreign bodies. When the nasolacrimal ducts are blocked, dripping begins in the cavities of the anterior cells of the nose.
