The trigeminal nerve is one of the cranial nerves (nervi craniales), which innervates the skin, mucous membranes, muscles and bones of the facial area. The nerve consists of three branches: the ophthalmic, maxillary and mandibular nerves. It is responsible for the sensitivity of the face and temporal region, as well as the motor activity of the eyes.
The trigeminal nerve begins from the cells of the trigeminal nucleus located in the medulla oblongata
