Postherpetic neuralgia, or neuralgia that develops after suffering from herpes zoster (postherpetic neuralgia), is severe, debilitating pain at the site of the lesion.

With trigeminal neuralgia (tic douloureux), a person experiences severe paroxysmal attacks of pain along one or more branches of the trigeminal nerve.

With migrainous neuralgia, the patient is bothered by facial pain lasting approximately 30-60 minutes, which occurs in the days following the migraine attack.
