Norepinephrine

Norepinephrine (NE) is one of two neurotransmitters in the human body. NE is produced and released in large quantities in response to stressful events such as anxiety, fear, exercise, or hunger. Insufficient production of the norepinephrine system is associated with emotional instability, anxiety, depression, and sleep disorders.

Norepinephrine is controlled by the hypothalamus and is released in exchange for dopamine and acetylcholine at CNS synapses. This neurotransmitter affects almost every organ in our body, including the brain, heart, lungs, liver and pancreas. The suppressive effect of this neurotransmitter ensures the stability of vital functions and the constancy of the internal environment of the body. The high concentration of NOR2 and NORQ suggests that NE has a single effect on the activity of cells expressing these receptors.
