Novandol: an effective anti-inflammatory drug
Novandol is an anti-inflammatory drug produced in Yugoslavia by the pharmaceutical company Zdravlje. The active component of Novandol is acetylsalicylic acid, which belongs to the group of salicylic acid derivatives. This drug is widely used to relieve pain symptoms, reduce inflammation and reduce fever in various diseases.
Novandol is presented in the form of tablets containing 300 mg of acetylsalicylic acid. It has various synonyms such as HL-Pain, Anopyrin, Apo-Asa, Aspecard, Aspivatrin and others.
The drug Novandol is effective for the following indications for use: rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis, infectious-allergic myocarditis, infectious-inflammatory diseases with fever, various types of pain (including headache, migraine, toothache, neuralgia, myalgia, arthralgia, algodismenorrhea), as well as for the prevention of thrombosis and thromboembolism, secondary prevention of myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, unstable angina, cardiac arrhythmias and other conditions.
However, the drug Novandol has some contraindications. It is not recommended for hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or other components of the drug, for erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract in the acute phase, gastrointestinal bleeding, as well as in patients with “aspirin” asthma, bleeding disorders, vitamin K deficiency, severe renal insufficiency, in the first trimester of pregnancy and during lactation. Novandol should also be used with caution in patients with gout, liver disease and in children under 12 years of age with hyperthermia due to viral infections.
When using Novandol, some side effects may occur, such as nausea, anorexia, gastralgia, diarrhea, erosive and ulcerative lesions and bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract, allergic reactions (skin rash, bronchospasm), renal and/or liver failure, thrombocytopenia. With long-term use, the most common symptoms are dizziness, headache, reversible hearing impairment (tinnitus), visual impairment, aseptic meningitis, hemorrhagic syndrome, prolonged bleeding and others.
