We say that a bad, hot nature can occur either when two passive qualities are balanced, or when dryness or moisture predominate. When these two passive qualities are in a balanced state, then we know that the abundance of heat reaches only a certain limit and is not excessive, otherwise it would be drying.
When warmth is combined with dryness, such a nature can remain in its state for a long time. And the combination of warmth and humidity does not last long. Either moisture takes over heat and extinguishes it, or heat overcomes moisture and dries it.
If moisture predominates, then the condition of its owner will improve towards the end of youth, and the condition will become balanced in the sense of them. When the moisture decreases, the extraneous moisture will begin to increase and the heat will decrease.
We say that establishing a routine for hot-natured people has two purposes: one is to return them to a balanced state, and the second is to maintain their health as it is. The first is achieved by those who patiently abstain until a period of time when they gradually return to a balanced state. For if anyone wants to return such people to a balanced state not gradually, he will make their body sick. As for the second goal, it is achieved by eating food suitable for the patient’s nature, as a result of which existing health will be preserved.
If someone advanced in years with a hot nature has two passive qualities in a balanced state, this means that at the beginning of life they were closer to
health, and their nature caused rapid growth of teeth and hair, and they had clarity of speech and language and walked quickly; then, when the warmth in them increased too much and the dryness increased, they developed a burning nature, and most of them developed a large amount of bile. At the beginning of life, the regime for them is the same as for persons with a balanced nature. When they reach another age, it is necessary to switch to the regime established for such persons who are given a diuretic, and the secretion of bile is desirable along those paths where the excess tends during diarrhea or vomiting.
If a person’s nature cannot direct the juices to erupt, then he needs to be helped with light means; for vomiting - such as drinking large amounts of clean warm water or mixed with nabeez; and as a laxative - such remedies as violet jam, tamarind, shirkhusht and taranjubin.
It is necessary to make it easier for them to exercise and give them food with good chyme. Sometimes it is necessary to take a bath three times a day. They should abstain from anything that is hot. If the bath after eating does not cause them a feeling of tension or tightness in the liver and abdomen, then let them calmly use it; and if something like this happens, then they should use such blockage-opening remedies as infusion of bitter wormwood, sabur, anise, bitter almonds with sikanjubin, and refrain from taking a bath after eating.
These opening agents should be taken after digesting the first meal and before the second meal, when there is still a long time left before the second meal, namely in the morning after waking up from sleep and before the bath;
Patients should continue to apply oil and give light white wine. Cold water is good for them. All of the above is best applied to people with a dry and hot nature.
As for people with a hot and damp nature, it occurs because there is decay and a rush of bad juices into the organs, and then people should do physical exercises, which greatly help the resorption of bad juices. However, these movements should be smooth so that they do not heat up the body. At the same time, patients should refrain from any kind of movements that stimulate the juices.
Those who are not accustomed to it should abstain most from exercise. It is best to exercise after emptying the body, take a bath before eating and take care to shake out all excess. When spring arrives, bloodletting and bowel movements should not be overlooked.
