**Obstetrician's hand** is a hand used during childbirth, allowing to provide more comfortable conditions for the woman during childbirth and improve the well-being of the baby. It is designed to perform certain manipulations and has a slightly different name - an obstetrician-gynecologist's hand (holds the fetal head). The technique first appeared in the 20s of the last century. The purpose of the creation was to reduce the complexity of the process of removing the child from the outside. Despite the relative simplicity of the operation, there was a possibility of damaging the mother's birth canal, so some experience was required from the obstetrician. The technique was developed by Emile Choffard. During normal labor, the brush is not used
