Thermal shortness of breath is a condition when a person’s lungs cannot fully perform their function of saturating the blood with oxygen. This can happen if a person has any problems with the cardiovascular or respiratory system, such as chronic lung disease, excess weight or smoking. According to American doctors, shortness of breath “is one of the first signs of increased levels of carbon dioxide in the lungs and bloodstream.” Symptoms of shortness of breath include difficulty breathing, rapid breathing in and out, coughing, and chest pain. If a person experiences shortness of breath, they should see a doctor immediately for further evaluation and treatment. In case of intense shortness of breath, the patient requires hospitalization. Treatment for shortness of breath includes taking medications to reduce carbon dioxide levels in the blood, eating right, and getting regular exercise.
